In 2018 the Foundation introduced a new kind of giving with the 50 Grand Women project. Female board members asked women in Grand Bend to each donate $1,000 to create a $50,000 donor-advised endowment fund. That meant that the members could decide among themselves how the annual grant (approximately $1,750) would be allocated.

The idea resonated. A year later, we had 68 members and had made our first grant, to the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre.

The success of Grand Women (we had to drop the “50”!) inspired four men on our Board to launch Grand Men. This group, too, is growing rapidly.
