Last year, GBCF supported the Rotary Global Literacy project as part of our annual grants. Through the project, led by the Grand Bend Rotary Club, surplus school supplies from our region are packed into containers and shipped to developing countries, where they’re put to good use. While the project benefits young people far away, the project itself has become an important part of our community, inspiring volunteers from all walks of life.
Usually the containers are rented, but this time, two containers will be purchased with GBCF grant support, packed and shipped. When the containers arrive in Eswatini (Swaziland), they will be converted into libraries.Below are some pics of previous container conversions.
What a wonderful way to foster volunteerism in our community and reach out to children who need our help!
