$10,000 legacy gift established to benefit the entire community of South Huron
Exeter, Ontario, March 8th, 2019.
As a longtime supporter of agriculture and his community, Bob Down is a perfect example of the South Huron Community fund motto “Growing Our Own”. Setting up a family fund with the South Huron Community Fund is a natural fit for Bob’s vision of supporting his community. The Down Family Fund will support community activities in South Huron for many years to come, for all ages, in key areas such as arts and culture, environment, health care, recreation.
“South Huron is a great place to live, work and play,” said Bob Down. “This donation will continue to foster the vitality of South Huron.”
This family fund joins a growing list of families and businesses that have created a community endowment managed by the South Huron Community Fund. Each year a committee of community volunteers reviews grant applications and chooses to fund projects that demonstrate the highest impact for South Huron residents. The next series of community grants will be disbursed in the fall of 2019.
“Our model of giving is truly about supporting your community,” said Tom Prout, Chair. “We are always happy to work with donors and match their interests with local community organizations working to improve South Huron.”
Whether priorities relate to arts and culture, health care, recreation, environment, youth or the elderly, the South Huron Community Fund is dedicated to supporting the community vitality of our area. Funds donated by families and business create a permanent endowment that generates annual grants for local charitable organizations.
Due to their experience, commitment to projects in South Huron and for administration efficiency, the South Huron Community Fund operates as part of the Grand Bend Community Foundation. As a registered charity, the Foundation can issue tax deductible receipts to donors. Grant applications are available at grandbendcommunityfoundation.ca.
