In late September, the Grand Bend Community Foundation launched a new concept, the 50 Grand Women Fund. Already more than 30 “grand women” in the area have joined the group, with more stepping up every day.
The idea is simple: 50 women donate $1000 each, creating a permanent fund of $50,000. The money is invested and the income from the fund is used to support eligible charities in the region. The members get to decide what cause they support.
“It’s an idea that definitely resonated,” says Foundation Chair Penny Nelligan. “Many women have embraced this opportunity to be directly involved in how their philanthropic dollars are used. And they know that the fund will continue to help for many, many years to come.”
Adds Executive Director Pat Morden: “We’ll be making a difference and having some fun along the way. Membership would be a great holiday gift for any grand woman!”
The first meeting of the group will be held in April 2019. There is still time to join, says Nelligan. Simply contact Pat Morden at 519-619-8630 or send a cheque for $1,000 to Grand Bend Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1150, Grand Bend, Ontario, N0M 1T0. You will receive an official tax receipt and will be invited to participate in ongoing 50 Grand Women Fund activities.
