A message from the Chair
It’s that time of year – parties, baking, tree trimming, and of course, shopping! Last year, sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday were estimated at almost $7 billion. This year will probably add up to more.
Now that Black Friday is over for another year, I’d like you to consider another way to invest your time and money: Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday, November 27, is a global movement for giving and volunteering – a time when charities, companies and individuals join together to bring about real change in their communities.
Think of it as an antidote to consumerism Or maybe just a pause in the action, before things ramp up for the holiday season. Certainly, it’s a good time to think about your charitable giving (and qualify for 2018 tax receipts).
One option for Giving Tuesday is to make a gift to your Community Foundation. We believe in giving “For Good. Forever.” What does that mean? Your donations, together with those of many other people, are permanently invested, and the annual income is used to support a wide variety of charities (see our 2018 grants below). You have the satisfaction of knowing your gift stays in our community and continues to benefit people in our region for many years to come.
And it’s easy. Just go to grandbendcommunityfoundation.ca and click the Donate Now button to give online, or send a cheque to Grand Bend Community Foundation, Box 1150, Grand Bend Ontario, N0M1T0.
